On Thursday, two daughters of John McLAGGAN left their father's house in Stanley Parish (York Co.) to attend a funeral. The younger, Jane McLAGGAN, intending to return home the same eve., in consequence of a thunderstorm, remained over night at the house of her brother-in-law, distant about one and a half miles from her father's. On Saturday, the elder sister returning home, finding her sister had not reached there, search was immediately made for her and her body was found within a few hundred ( ) of her father's house, in the Nashwaak River, where it had laid from 10 o'clock Friday until Saturday 3 p.m. It is supposed that she had attempted to ford the river. The deceased was 18 years of age. An inquest was held on the body before George L. Hatheway, Coroner. Verdict 'accidental death by drowning'
