An accident, very sad in its nature, occurred at Quispamsis (Kings Co.) yesterday morn. The engineer and fireman of the outgoing train for Halifax noticed a small object on the track which they supposed was a dog, but too late discovered it to be a child - the 3 year old d/o George GALLAGHER, I.C.R. section man. The child was sitting on the track and struck by the locomotive and her legs taken off. She was at once taken home and everything possible done but four hours after suffering she died. The little girl's mother was ill and the neighbors had undertaken to care for the child which, however, strayed from them. The fireman of the locomotive said the accident was the saddest he ever saw. Just before the locomotive struck the girl she turned her head and looked up at the engine in the most innocent way possible.
