Robert COATES youngest s/o W.D. COATES, while at work in a piece of burned land at Corn Ridge (Kings Co.) on Friday afternoon 14th inst., met with a fatal accident. In felling some trees they became lodged and a strong wind blowing, one of them fell upon him, crushing him to the ground and injuring his head and spine. A boy who was with him gave the alarm. His brother, Samuel COATES was at work near by in his own field and came to the rescue. The injured man was removed to his own house, conscious, though suffering intensely. Dr. B.S. Thorne was quickly summoned and rendered all possible aid, but without avail. Mr. Coates died on Sabbath morn. The funeral was held at Corn Hill on Tuesday. Rev. I.N. Parker conducted the funeral services assisted by Rev. A.C. Thomson. The deceased gentleman leave a widow and three children.
