From Yarmouth 'Tribune' - During the gale on Friday night last, the schr. "Lizzie Chute", GRAHAM, master, of and for Bear River, N.S. from Antigua went ashore at Chegoggin Point near this harbor and broke to pieces. All the crew perished and none of the bodies have yet been found. The ill fated vessel was owned by Chute & Dunn of Bear River and had on board a quantity of sugar and molasses. She was nearly new having been launched 1st Aug. last and was 162 tonnes register. Her crew consisted of John GRAHAM, Master, David M. PINE, Mate, George A. VROOM, Steward and Jacob JOHNSTON, Robert HAWKINS, Norman CORKES and Edgar TURNER, all four colored seamen. Charles H. CHUTE, only s/o H.H. CHUTE, one of the owners, 17 years of age, was a passenger. Capt. GRAHAM left a widow and six children and VROOM a large family. TURNER was the son of the late Isaac TURNER of Salmon River in Yarmouth Township. The "Lizzie Chute" was insured only to the amount of 2,000. Later - The bodied of Capt. GRAHAM, David M. PINE, mate and Jacob JOHNSON were found near the shore at Cheggogin Point and conveyed to their families at Bear River. On Tuesday afternoon, three more bodies were found, viz. Charles H. CHUTE, two colored seaman, one supposed to be TURNER. The remains of CHUTE were conveyed to Bear River yesterday. - Yarmouth 'Herald', Jan. 23.
