Hon. Chas. H. LABILLOIS son of Joseph H. LABILLOIS, for many years merchant and postmaster in Dalhousie (Rest. Co.). Grandfather came from Brittany in France and was surgeon under Napoleon Bonaparte and came to America in 1816. Was in medical charge at the Lazartto, Tracadie (Glouc. Co.) Maternal ancestors came from Dublin, Ireland during the rebellion. Born Dalhousie, N.B. 18th Dec. 1856. Educated at the grammar school, Dalhousie and at the model school, Carleton, P.Q. Married Charlotte McNAUGHTON d/o late John McNAUGHTON, lumber merchant, Quebec. Held a position of trust for many years with his grand uncle, the late John MEAGHER, who represented Bonaventure County during the union of Upper and Lower Canada. Was deputy registrar for the second division, Bonaventure County. Was secretary-treasurer of Bay Chaleur St. John Baptiste Society. Is an officer of the Restigouche Agricultural Society and director of the Restigouche and Victoria Colonization Railway Company. First returned to the House of Assembly at the general elections, 1882, and re-elected at general election 1886 and by acclamation at last general election. Appointed a member of the Executive Counciol April 1891. Commercially speaking, after doing a large business, was burnt out in the big fire of Nov. 1886, losing dwelling, store and stock.
