The death of Catherine McTavish HUBBARD, relict of George HUBBARD, Esq., removes a well known link between the past and the present. Her husband was a prominent lumberman in this county fifty years ago and she was a daughter of the late John McTAVISH, Esq., a native of Scotland, a distinguished officer of the dragoons and who saw much active service in the stirring times of the latter end of the last century and beginning of this, more especially in the Irish rebellion of 1798. He got his discharge in Glasgow, Scotland in 1804 when he emigrated to Miramichi (North. Co.). Mrs. Hubbard was the last of a numerous family and was a person of excellent Christian character and much beloved in the place where she so long resided. - 'Newcastle Advocate'
