Sumner Co. received a despatch yesterday stating that the schr. "Magellan", Capt. Dixon, is ashore at Sand Cove, Chesapeake and will probably be a total wreck. The "Megallan" sailed from Havre de Grace, Dec. 6, for Newport News to load for Halifax. She is a vessel of 198 tons register and was built at Hopewell Cape in 1882. She is owned by Sumner Co. of Moncton who purchased her very recently. She is insured for $4,000. Two of her crew, Thomas LANDRY, Hopewell Cape (Albert Co.) and William MAHAR, Dorchester (West. Co.) were lost.
