Parish of Elgin - From the most reliable data at my command, I find that some sixty years ago the whole area of what is now Elgin Parish (Albert Co.) was an unbroken widerness; that about the year 1811 the first settler, the late John GELDART, Sr. made the first improvements and settled with his family, about half a mile below what is now 'Elgin Corner'.
