A sad accident by which Charles BUTLER, age 50, a cleaner on the N.B. Railway, lost his life occurred at the depot here on Saturday afternoon. As James FOSTER was placing his engine over the pit for the purpose of having his engine cleaned he was startled by hearing a cry of distress. Springing from his engine he discovered Butler lying across the track behind the rear driving wheel. Medical aid was immediately procured but he died in about fifteen minutes. It is thought that while Butler was striving to reach a scraper that was in the ash pit, the rear driving wheel caught him and while not breaking any bones caused internal injuries sufficient to produce death. Coroner W.W. Hay held an inquest. The deceased leaves a wife and large family, He is a native of Deer Island (Charlotte Co.)
