James GILLIS of Gillis Lake, Cape Breton, better known in the country at 'Sheumus Drobhair', is dead. He died on 26th of last month. He was born at Scamadale, Invernesshire, Scotland in 1811 and emigrated to Cape Breton in 1821. He was married twice, first to Margaret GILLIS, 'Gillis' daughter' of Margaree, by whom he left one son; next to Catherine GILLIS of Salmon River, sister to Roland GILLIS, architect, Sydney, by whom he had eleven children, nine of whom are living.
