The community was surprised Friday last to hear that Mariner HICKS, one of the prosperous residents of Midgic (West. Co.) had passed away the previous night. During the winter the deceased had suffered with heart failure resulting from a severe attack of la grippe, but it was not until a few days before his death that the trouble assumed the serious form which terminated in his death 10 o'clock Thursday after an illness of nine days. Mr. Hicks was the s/o late Nathan HICKS and was born at Midgic about 60 years ago. Nearly all his life he has been engaged in lumbering. He was twice married, his second wife, who survives him, being the widow of Arthur CHASE. He leaves no children. The funeral was Sunday. The services were conducted by Rev. Lavers. The pall bearers were David WHEATON, John FAWCETT, Job ANDERSON, Isaac ANDERSON, Stewart ESTABROOKS and Azor READ.
