The death of John C. WINSLOW was not unexpected. He passed away early last Wednesday morn. While advanced in years he preserved much of his youthful manner. Mr. Winslow was born in Fredericton, 24th May 1826 and is the second s/o late J.F.W. WINSLOW, Esq. for many years Sheriff of Carleton Co. Mr. Winslow studied law at Fredericton in the office of D.S. KERR. He came to Woodstock and formed a partnership in law with the late Edwin JACOB. Afterwards were was in partnership with the late James EDGAR and still later with W.H. CHANDLER. in 1872 he was appointed postmaster. He was also registrar of probates, succeeding the late D.L. Dibblee. He was a one time lieutenant in the artillery corps of which Jas. Edgar was captain. He was prominent in Masonic orders. He had experiance as a newspaper man, becoming proprietor of the 'Acadian' of which Jas. Edgar was editor. In 1859 Mr. Winslow married Charlotte L. O'DONNELL d/o Samuel O'DONNELL of Amherst, N.S. Mr. Winslow leaves a widow and four children. (see original for floral tributes)
