On Monday 23rd inst., Capt. John EVANS of schr. "Eliza Jane" was unfortunately killed from a blow from the boom of his vessel while on her passage to Boston. She was within five miles of the port when the accident happened. Shortly afterwards, Lt. CUSH of the American revenue cutter went on board the schooner and rendered every assistance; medical aid was also obtained from the cutter, but the vital spark had fled. Capt. EVANS has left a wife and four children. Remains brought here Wednesday on steamer "Herald" and interred following day.
