Murdoch McLEOD was killed by a fall of a stone in the west slope of the Spring Hill mines, N.S. on 3rd May 1886. He was born in Pictou, N.S. 1842 and when 4 years old moved with his parents to Tabusintac (North. Co.) Shortly after the Spring Hill mines opened, he moved there with his family. His aged parents and two sisters still live in Tabusintac. He leaves a widow and six children. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church.
