On Saturday night about 10 o'clock, John McCANN saw James ELLIOTT, age 24, watchman of tug "Captain" go down towards his boat, lying at the 'bedroom', Indiantown (St. John) From that hour until yesterday afternoon when the body of the young man was found lifeless in the water near the boat, no one knew of his whereabouts. A Mrs. HEGARTY who lives near where the boats were moored, says that she heard cries for help coming from that quarter at about 11 o'clock Saturday night. An inquest was held on the body yesterday afternoon by Coroner Earle. Jas. R. HIGGINS deposed that Elliott had boarded with him. The jury returned a verdict of accidental drowning (see original)
