Death of Rev. W. Harrison TILLEY - passed away at Toronto on Sunday morn. - The Rev. W.H. Tilley was 34 years of age. He was born in St. John and studied at Fredericton University where he took highest honors. He finished his theological studies at Windsor, where he was for some time mathematical tutor. He was ordained by the Bishop of Fredericton and his first charge was in St. Luke's Church, Portland (St. John) as assistant of pastor Rev. Canon HARRISON whose name he received at the baptismal font at his hands. At St. Luke's he ministered to the people with great acceptance and by the young people, especially, he was greatly beloved. From thence he went to London, Ont. as assistant in the parish church there, and in a short time they built for him a Memorial Church, of which he became rector. He accepted a call to the position of assistant Minister of St. James Cathedral, Toronto with Dean GRASSETT. Mr. Tilley was married to Bessie MATTHEWS d/o George MATTHEWS, Esq. of (St. John) city, by whom he had three children, one of whom is now with her grandfather, the Lieut. Governor and another with her aunt, Mrs. DeWOLFE of Quebec. Mr. Tilley's remains will be taken to London, Ontario for interment. (see original)
