In the usual place today is announced the death of James WETMORE, at age 94 years and 7 mos. Mr. W. was born at Rye, New York and came to this country with his parents in 1783. His father, John WETMORE, had served on the British side as Lt in the revolutionary war and was at the battle of White Plains. He was a government land surveyor of this Province and one of the first magistrates in Kings Co. His son, James, lived in New Brunswick until he was 17 years of age and then returned to New York. In 1816 he came back to N.B.; he lived for a time in Yarmouth, N.S. and then returned and for many years carried on a farming operation in Kings Co. For the last 21 years he has lived with his son, Stephen P. WETMORE, Esq. in Carleton (St. John). He was an exceedingly hardy and vigorous man until within a day or two of his death, was in full possession of all his faculties, able to walk his mile or more and able to read the newspaper without glasses. He leaves a widow who is in her 97th year, very large number of descendants, even to the fifth generation - 'Globe'
