A funeral of mass requiem was celebrated at the Pro-Cathedral on Monday morn for Mrs. Eliza RYAN who departed this life Saturday previous. Rev. Father Stang of the Cathedral was assisted by Rev. P. Whitney of Toronto. The remains were interred in the Old Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Eliza Ryan was born in the town of Tipperary, Ireland early in 1808 and was therefore 78 years of age when she died. Her maiden name was Eliza KELLY and she came from a very affluent family. On her mother's side she was related to some of the best families in the town of Tipperary and her two surviving brothers hold very important official positions in England at the present time. Mrs. Ryan was married in Ireland and came to this country with her husband, Michael RYAN, in 1847. Mr. Ryan embarked in the dry goods business in St. John and for many years carried on an extensive business at St. John, Halifax and Chatham. In 1865 he settled up his business in the Provinces and located in this city (Providence, R.I.) where he conducted business until his death in 1869. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Ryan has made her home with her eldest daughter, Mrs. Philip LINTON of Washington Street from whose residence she was buried Monday last. - Providence, R.I.
