Among the Charlotte County boys who have gone to California and other places west is Capt. Albert McLAUGHLIN, a Grand Manan boy and son of Henry McLAUGHLIN who now lives at Head Harbor, Campobello. Capt. McL. went to California with his uncle Capt. Daniel McLAUGHLIN of Malden, Mass. who is also a Grand Mananer, as seaman and leaving his uncle's ship in San Francisco, he went as fireman in a tugboat. In perservering he rose to command the boat. He is in the employ of D.J. Spreckles & Co., great sugar men. His uncle, Capt. Daniel McLaughlin owns a large ranch near Frisco, California and picks raisins.
