The case of Robert H. HAWKES, alias Howard HALL of Lynn, Mass. charged by Mrs. Althea PROFIT of Roxbury with bigamy excites considerable interest in Moncton where Hawkes formerly resided. The defendant claims that he lived several years with Althea BARRY, but denies that he was ever married to her. Mrs. Profit, on the contrary, claims that they were legally married and that three witnesses, Caroline E. STULTZ and Mary STULTZ, sisters and William FENTON, brother-in-law of Robt. Hawkes, were present at the marriage, which was performed by Rev. Robert Newcomb, an intinerant Methodist preacher. The two Stultz sisters, the former of whom is now Mrs. Robert MUGGRIDGE, reside in Lewisville (West. Co.) Mrs. Muggridge lives with her sister, Mary Stultz, who has become somewhat demented.
