Up In Kintore (Victoria Co.) - Another immigrant who came out from the old country with the Kincardine immigrants is Mr. LINDSAY of Tilley Settlement who did not find what altogether suited him in taking up an allotment and went over to another settlement. He made a good clearance and did very well for a considerable time, but bodily illness overtook him. His medical advisers recommended that he should make a visit to his native land in the belief that the change would do him good, but after being many weeks at the hospital in Glasgow he came back very little improved. It was then suggested that he try a warmer climate, so that with another family from the same place, about the end of November last, they started off for California. Besides Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay, they had a family of five healthy children along with them. A letter from Mr. Lindsay says that since they left sickness and death have visited his family; out of five who went away only two are now alive. Just about the time they reached the end of their long journey, they were all attacked with diphtheria and Johnnie LIDSAY died on 21st Nov. last, Etta LINDSAY, on the 23rd and Annie LINDSAY on 1st January.
