Perhaps it is not generally known to our readers that John LEGOOF of this town, who returned home from the U.S. some months ago, is a hero, but such is the fact, as he has on more than one occasion placed his own life in jeaporady to save that of others. He carries a handsome medal presented to him by the Humane Society of Massachusetts, which was organized in 1791. The inscription reads: Reward of Merit / to / John LeGoof / for / his human exertions / in saving two persons / from / drowning / Waltham / Feb. 22, 1889 / Feb. 1, 1890 / Courage and Perserverance
