Markhamville (Kings Co.) June 4 - Yesterday the remains of Mrs. Andrew BLACK, one of the oldest inhabitants of this neighborhood, were laid in their last resting place in the church yard, Shpody Road, Hammond. Mrs. Black had been complaining for some time of pains about her heart, but was able to do the house work. She retired as usual Wednesday night. On Thursday morn. about 2 o'clock her husband awoke and found her dead. It must have been a terribl trial for an aged man like him to be alone in the house with his dead wife in the clouds of the night and not a neighbor within a mile that he could call on for help. Mrs. Black raised a large family, all of whom are in the United States except, Armour BLACK, who resides in St. Martins. I understand her youngest son and two of his sisters came home to attend the funeral. Rev. Foster preached at the home of the deceased and conducted services at the grave.
