The people of our town were shocked Thursday eve. to learn of the death of Joel S. CALL s/o Lt. Col. R.R. CALL. Joe, as he was familiarly called, was a general favorite and expressions of regret were frequently heard that he was leaving town for Denver, Colorado where he had secured a lucrative situation. He left Newcastle Monday eve., Nov. 24th, and arrived in Denver on Saturday afternoon, of which fact he telegraphed home at once. He was met at the station by his sister Miss Laura CALL. On Thursday eve a telegraphic despatch was sent to Rev. Aitken saying that poor Joe was dead and Mr. Aitekn devoloved the terrible task of informing Mr. and Mrs. Call of their sudden bereavement. Joel S. Call was 22 years of age on 8th July last. (see original)
