J.W. LAWRENCE - The City Forefather's - Died Wednesday eve. 12th March, 1800, Richard PARTELOW, 98th year, an old respectable inhabitant. When the Loyalists in 1783 landed at Parr Town, the old patriarch was in his 83rd year. He was the great-grandfather of Hon. John R. PARTELOW. Mr. Partelow lies in the Old Burying Ground. ** married Thursday eve. Feb. 17, 1787, by Rev. George Bisset, Rector, William Sanford OLIVER, Esq., High Sheriff for City & County of St. John to the much esteemed and accomplished Mrs. Catherine MENZIES widow of Capt. MENZIES, deceased. The lady was Sheriff Oliver's second wife. She died at the age of 41, 1803. He marroed a third time and died 1813, age 62. His residence and office was in Union St, opposite Drury Lane, then a fashionable part of the city. Alongside his wife, the first sheriff of Saint John rests in the Old Burial Ground. ** married Tuesday eve. 17th May 1793, William MELICK / Miss KENT; On Thursday eve., Capt. Noah DISBROW to Miss Isabella CHILLAS; On Sunday eve., Capt. BECK / Miss Elizabeth CUTTER. - China presented to King's College, Windsor, Nova Scotia in memory of Haliburton WELDON by his his mother, Fredericton, N.B. 18th May 1880. No. 46 - (vase) presented by Lt. Gov. CHANDLER, brought to N.S. by his grandfather, the Loyalist, who died at the age of 90 years. No. 76 - (china) brought by Capt. BAILEY, Loyal American Regt. He came to Fredericton in 1783 and died at age of 97 years. It is presented by his daughter, Miss Bailey who died at Fredericton, 1875. She remembered when the tea was thrown overboard in Boston, being then about 7 years old, which would make her age about 105 years. No. 56 (Wedgeworth Pitcher) belonged to Col. BAYARD, Kings Own Rangers and was used during the visit of His Royal Highness, Duke of Kent on his way to Annapolis. No. 210 (china cup and saucer) from Sir Fenwick WILLIAMS was was born at Annapolis, N.S. and entered H.M. Service. The ancestor of General Williams, will have honorable mention in history for the protection of King Charles 2nd after the battle of Worcester. ** Haliburton Weldon was the son of Hon. John Wesley WELDON, Judge of the Supreme Court of New Bruncwick and grandson of late Judge HALIBURTON of Nova Scotia, author. He was born 17th June 1849, graduated at Windsor College, 1870, admitted to the N.B. Bar, 1870 and died at Saint John 3rd Aug. 1873. In the Old Grave Yard, Saint John is a slab to the memory of the mother of General Williams: Sacred / to / The Memory of / Anna Maria WILLIAMS / widow of / Thomas WILLIAMS, Esq. / Late Commissary at / Annapolis Royal / She died June 15th, 1823 / Aged 55 Years / Thanks be to God which giveth / The Victory though our Lord / Jesus Christ.
