Frederic T.C. BURPEE died at Calais yesterday after a short illness. Mr. Burpee was a brother of the late Hon. Isaac BURPEE, Minister of Customs of Canada and of E.R. BURPEE of Bangor. He was born on the main river in Sunbury County and came to St. John in early life. After serving for a time as a clerk, he entered into partnership with his brother Isaac and they carried on an extensive business. When the partnership dissolved Mr. Burpee became a contractor on the railway between St. John and Vanceboro and did some heavy work in connection with the road bed. Subsequently he took up the red granite polishing industry and carried on works in Carleton for a long time, removing a few years ago to Calais. Mr. Burpee in his early life was interested in the volunteer movement here, and also in the Masonic fraternity, but of late years has confined himself solely to business. He was about 62 years of age and leaves a daughter who is married in England and a widow. His wife was Miss SMITH of Pictou, N.S. Mr. Burpee's body will be brought to St. John for interment and the funeral will probably be tomorrow.
