With considerable surprise it was learned yesterday that Frederick J. DOHERTY of Portland (St. John) was dead. Mr. Doherty, a native of Tyrone, Ireland, was a resident of Portland for many years and at one time was extensively engaged in shipbuilding at the Marsh Bridge, among the vessels he contructed being the "Brothers Pride". He represented Ward 4 at the Council for several terms. He was 62 years of age.
