The 'P.E. Islander' says that on the night of Tuesday 30th ult., a man named Mr. WILT, chairmaker, residing near Bay Fortune Bridge, while in a state of intoxication, commenced ill using his wife. On some of his neighbours going to his house to ascertain the cause of the disburbance, WILT fired a gun through the window at the persons outside, striking Mrs. McCALLUM, a daughter of James ROURKE, formerly of (St. John) city in the head. A man standing by was also struck in the stomach. Both are dangerously ill, little hope being entertained of their recovery. - We regret to hear that Douglas has since died of his wounds and Mrs. McCALLUMcs life is despaired of. WILT is now in the Georgetown jail.
