Friday 19th inst, a boy about 5 years old s/o William THOMSON of Tower Hill (Charlotte Co.) was accidently burnt to death during the absence of his parents. It appears that the father was at work in the field some distance from the house and the mother had gone to the neighbors after raking the fire, closing the outside door and leaving her three children in the kitchen. When the mother returned after a short absence, she found her oldest son lying dead at the gate a few feet from the house. The unfortunate lad had appearently gone to the fire place and his cotton clothes ignited. In his endeavors to reach his father or neighbors, he became exhausted and fell when his mother found him nearly consumed by flames.
