Robert DEACON was born in Ireland, 13th June 1825. When seven years old he came with his parents to Charlotte Co. and settled on a farm on Tower Hill. At manhood he obtained a free grant farm and when 28 years old he married Mary PEPPER and settled down there, where he residied until the day of his death. Cancer, the disease of which he died, began to develop itself in his throat in March last and he was advised to go to St. John hospital for treatment, where he underwent a painful surgical operation and remained eight weeks. He, however, received but little benefit and returned home on Aug. 12 and after five weeks of suffering, he passed away. On the Wednesday morn. following his funeral services were conducted by Rev. Millidge at his residence. Mourners followed his remains to Oak Bay cemetery. He was a member of the Episcopal Church, a kind husband and loving father.
