A fatal accident occurred last eve. on Winter Street, Gertie FRIEDMAN, a little 3 year old girl, was the victim. She met a horrible death by being run over and crushed and mangled by a street car. The accident occurred about 7 o'clock. Car No. 12, in charge of Driver Henry HOWARD, was proceeding eastward along Winter Street at a moderate pace. The driver did not notice the little girl sitting on the track and the little one apparently did not realize her danger. Several persons saw the child's peril and shouted to Howard to stop, but without effect, for the little girl was trampled under the horses feet and then crushed beneath the iron wheels of the car. Dr. Andrews was hastily summoned, and after dressing the wound ordered the child to be removed to the hospital. The order was immediately carried out, but before the coach arrived at the institution death had relieved the sufferings of the little girl. The body was then driven back to the house. The victim is a daughter of Abram FRIEDMAN, a Russian Jew. He was absent from home last night.
