The last to be gathered by the silent reaper was Jacob S. HALL or familiarly known as Capt. HALL, at the ripe age of 87 years. The sad event took place at the old homestaed near Penobsquis (Kings Co.) on Friday, 4th inst. On Sunday, the remains in charge of F.W. Wallace, undertaker, proceeded to the cemetery at the Stone meeting house where the aged pilgrim was laid to rest beside his wife who had preceded him to the spirit land some ten years ago. In the same cemetery and nearby rests the dust of Mr. Hall's grandmother, Mrs. GRAVES whose tombstone tells us she has lived a full 100 years. The religious cefremonies both at the house and grave were conducted by Rev. E.J. Grant. The pall bearers were Samuel T. MORTON, Gideon McLEOD, Wm MORTON, M.P. MORTON, C. HENDRICKS and G. HENDRICKS. Capt. Hall married Mary STABLEFORD some 62 years ago. Their family was a very large one as the following names will show: The eldest, Mary HALL married Murray McLEOD; Sarah HALL married John McCULLY; Fannie HALL, unmarried; John Elkanah HALL; Thomas HALL, killed some years ago by a falling tree; William HALL died when 14 years of age; Eliza HALL married Geo. WELLING, Shediac; Jacob T. HALL died a few years ago; Matilda HALL married Byron FREEZE; Albert G. HALL resides on the homestead; Nictoria HALL married Wm JOHNSON, St. John; Hannah HALL married Alfred WALKER. Of this large family of 13, ten are now living.
