On Wednesday eve. Feb. 14, George CALHOUN, Esq., Registrar of Deeds for Albert Co., passed peacefully away at his residence Hopewell Cape at the age of 80 years. Mr. Calhoun was at the time of his death the only survivor of the county officials of Albert Co. appointed at the time the county was divided from Westmorland and constituted in 1846. He filled many other important positions in the county having been Justice of the Peace and Justice of the Common Please, Official Asignee under the Insolvent Act and Secretary Treasurer of the Municipality and President of the Albert Railway Co. He was married in 1835 to Lavinia PECK d/o late Reuben PECK by whom he had five children. His widow and two children, John R. CALHOUN, St. John and Mrs. Bradley w/o Dr. C.W. BRADLEY, Moncton, survive him. Three children, Laura CALHOUN, William CALHOUN and Nathaniel C. CALHOUN, predeceased him. The remains were interred in the cemetery near the Calkins meeting house, Lower Cape, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. B.N. Hughes and Rev. Michael Gross. The pall bearers were Sheriff WOODWORTH, James E. DICKSON, Benj. BRAY, Joseph COOK, Capt. A.W. BURNS and Jos. H. DICKSON.
