A sad accident happed to Howard McDONALD in the lumber crew of Chesley HAWKINS and James GOOD, a few miles from Millville (York Co.) Saturday 15th inst. McDonald was engaged in clearing the yards and assisting in loading the teams. He had only a short time sent the teams away loaded and was making preparations for another load when the accident befell him. Some two or three logs had been rolled to their place when a very large one is supposed to have left its place and overtook him before he could make his escape. The log struck him lengthwise of his body, crushing his back in two or three places and breaking his shoulders. Death was thought to have been sudden. He was missed at the noon hour and search was made for him when he was found under the log as stated. McDonald lived at Cloverdale (Carleton Co.) and leaves a wife and seven small children.
