James TOWNLEY, who had for several years held a professorship in one of the Point St. Charles schools, Montreal and was spending his vacation with his aged mother on St. John Street, Chatham (North. Co.) died suddenly Sunday last. Mr. Townley was educated at St. Michael's College, Chatham. He devoted himself during his out-of-school hours to the study of medecine which he had commenced here with the late Dr. McCurdy, his intention being to adopt that as his profession. His funeral took place Tuesday afternoon 3 o'clock. There was a solemn service at the Pro-Cathedral conducted by Rev. T.J. Bannon after which interment took place in the R.C. burying ground. The pall bearers were Dr. DESMOND, Thos. CRIMMIN, John FLANAGAN, Wm T. CONNORS, Francis GRIFFIN and Michael NOOLAN.
