d. Grand Falls Parish (Victoria Co.) 31st Jan., Charles STEWART, age 81, for 40 years an out pensioner of Royal Hospital at Chelsea (England). The deceased was born in Glasgow, Scotland, was sgt. of H.M. 8th Regt. of Foot for 9 years and also served in Dumbarton Fencibles and Renfrew Militia. He was the first settler at Grand Falls, residing there 18 years as Barrack Sgt. He leaves a widow, age 83 helpless and dependent on public support. The sgt. was a member of the Masonic Fraternity.
