On Monday afternoon, as three boys, sons of William COLE and David COLE were attempting to cross a creek near French River, P.E.I. in a small flat or gun float, they were upset and all thrown into the water. Sad to relate two of them were drowned and the third Hugh COLE, a lad of 13,narrowly escaped, being rescued by the son of Thomas PILLMAN who heard his cries from a field nearby. - Summerside Journal (see original)
