Charles KELLY of Kingsclear (York Co.) and his wife's sister were upset out of a canoe in which they were coming down the St. John River, a little above West's Landing, about a quarter of a mile above the Grand Falls (Victoria Co.). The woman would certainly have been drowned had not KELLY, swam around to the opposite side of the canoe and supported both himself and her by reaching across the canoe. Both were exhausted when help reached them. The accident occurred Friday 3rd.
