Labour Journal, Alpena, Michigan - John DEWAR, who had his leg amputated at the Red Cross Hospital last Friday, died at noon on Monday of this week. It will be remembered that he had his foot torn to pieces by a log train and was badly injured otherwise. He was brought to this city a week ago last Monday and placed under Dr. Cameron's care at the hospital. Charles DEWAR and Frank DEWAR, his brothers, requested a consultation and the best surgical skills in the city. The medical men unanimously decided that an operation was imperative. John Dewar left behind him here, two brothers and one sister, who sat by his bedside till death's icy hand drew the curtain over the scene at 12 o'clock on Monday 5th August. The deceased, aged 24, was born in New Brunswick - Deceased was a son of Alex. DEWAR, St. Stephen Parish (Charlotte Co.) and has relatives in St. George.
