On Wednesday eve. between 6 and 7 o'clock, Joseph IRVING, age 9, s/o Robert IRVING, moulder at the Burrell Johnson iron works, was fishing in the harbor near the gas works in Yarmouth when he fell off the wharf. His brother Robert Irving was at his tea, but hearing that Joseph was in the water, he rushed to the rescue and plunged in. He succeeded in holding his brother above water until he was picked up by a boat, but sank himself and although his body was immediately recovered, all efforts to restore life were in vain. - 'Herald'
