Gloucester, Mass., Feb. 3 - The owners have given up all hope of schr. "Alice M. Strobie" which sailed from here on Dec. 6th to the Grand Banks. It is thought she was lost in the hurricane of Jan. 9th with her crew of 14 men, who were all provincials with one exception, an Irish man. The following are the names of the crew: William PORPER, MASTER, St. Francis Harbor, N.S., single; Chas. H. SWIM, Gloucester, single; Alexander BAGGETT, Lunenburg, single; Wm HUNT, Straight of Canso, single; Winthrop E. TAYLOR, Guysboro, single; George NICKERSON, Wood Harbor, single; John McDONALD, Little Canso, single; Angus McISAAC, Port Hood, C.B., single; John KELLEY, St. Lawrence, Nfld., single; Wm MARTIN, Ketch Harbor, single; Michael DACEY, Ireland, single; Michael CAVANAGH, left widow, one child in this city; Moses CORRIGAN, left widow, two children in this city; Alexander PEOPLE, left widow, one child in this city. They had followed the fishing from here for several years.
