Sacramento, May 5th - Yesterday morn. about 10 o'clock, Judge J.W. SNOWBALL, Knight's Landing, was preparing cartridges to kill birds which were devestating his orchard, when one of the cartridges exploded, the shell entering the Judge's face just below the left eye. Physicians were summoned and it was found necessary to take out the complete eye. Judge Snowball is a brother-in-law of Charles F. REED and Thomas H. REYNOLDS. He is a brother of J.B. SNOWBALL of Miramichi; also a brother of Hon. F.P. THOMPSON's wife. - Fredericton 'Gleaner'.
