W.T. PETERS of Rothesay (Kings Co.) recently came into possession of a very old Bible. It was presented to Mr. Peters by L.J. ALMON of this city, who came across it in his house while in search of something else. Mr. Almon has no idea where the book came from, nor does he know when it came into his possession. On the fly leaf is written 'Wm Tyng PETERS, 1817'. A slip of paper found in the book contains the following memorandum: 'St. Luke's Chapel, Gondola Point. On Sunday, the 14th November 1841 were baptized by Rev. W.E. Scovil, Elizabeth Ann Lavinia SAUNDERS and Mary Matilda SAUNDERS, both children of John SAUNDERS and Elizabeth Ann SAUNDERS.' William Tyng Peters was a great uncle of the gentleman in whose possession the Bible now is. The Mr. Peters whose name was first mentioned was a particular friend of Rev. Jas. SCOVIL, first rector of Kingston. As he had a son and a grandson who became preachers, it would look as if Mr. Peters had either loaned or given it to one of them to be used in the church at Gondola Point.
