Among the historians of our day who had their birth in Canada is the author of 'Charles the Bold', John Foster KIRK. Mr. Kirk was born at Fredericton, N.B. in 1824 and there and in Nova Scotia his life was passed until his 18th year, when he crossed the border in search of fortune. He became the highly prixed secretary and amanuesis of William H.
