Cornelius DRISCOLL, undoubtedly the oldest man in St. John, passed quietly to rest on Thursday at the remarkable age of 105 years. Mr.Driscoll was born at Baltimore, County Cork, Ireland in 1784 and removed to this country about 55 years ago, bringing with him his wife and three children. Three other children were born here, but two of them died. His only son, Florence DRISCOLL now lives in this city. One daughter lives at Providence, one at New York and one at Portland. Mr. Driscoll was employed as a laborer. He was temperate in habits and took great care of himself. He hardly ever touched liquor and never used tobacco and to this he often ascribed his long life. About 15 years ago he was obliged to give up active work, but it was only a few months ago that old age stopped him from doing small chores about the house. During the past few weeks he has been gradually breaking up and has suffered great pain, but he retained all his faculties until the last. Two of Driscoll's brothers who remained in England lived to about 90 years of age. His father did not reach any great age, but family tradition says his grandfather also reached the age of 105 years. Mr. Driscoll has 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
