At half past 7 o'clock Monday eve. the body of Albertus BRENNEN was discovered in the river near Rowe & Sherman's wharf by a couple of boys who immediately notified authorities. The body was taken ashore and Coroner MacPherson called. A jury consisting of G.A. PERLEY, Robt. THORBURN, A.P. MILLER, J. VANDINE, Jeremiah DRISCOLL, P. McGRATH and M. MORAN was empannelled and an inquest held in County Court House. From evidence it seems that Berty BRENNAN was last seen in company with two hands of schooner "Howard Holder" which cleared from this port Sunday morn. Drs. Gregory and Atherton agreed that death was caused by drowning. BRENNAN, about 36 years of age, was s/o late Phillip BRENNAN. For some time he worked on Rowe & Sherman's wharf loading vessels. The funeral took place 4 o'clock Tuesday. (see original)
