Located on the Richibucto River, 3.71 km N of Rexton, on the road to Petite-Aldouane: Richibucto Parish, Kent County: formerly called Liverpool: PO Liverpool 1825-1833: PO Richibucto from 1833: in 1866 Richibucto was a farming and fishing community with approximately 156 resident families: in 1871 it had a population of 800: in 1898 Richibucto was a seaport, a station on the Kent Northern Railway and had 1 post office, 15 stores, 3 hotels, 1 carriage factory, 1 steam sawmill, 1 tannery, several lobster factories, 2 lighthouses, 4 churches and a population of 1,100: Richibucto was incorporated as a village in 1966 and later became a town.
