Located on the N side of the Southwest Miramichi River, 2.25 km NE of Blackville, on the road to Barnettville: Blackville Parish, Northumberland County: Thomas Underhill, British Underhill and Nathaniel Underhill were early settlers here: the first Underhill families in this area were Loyalists from Westchester County, New York: PO 1887-1969 with William T. Underhill as the first postmaster: in 1898 Underhill was a farming and lumbering settlement with 1 post office, 1 store, 1 hotel, 1 church and a population of 75: Underhill became part of Blackville.
