Description
Located on S side of the Buctouche River, 4.5 km NE of Coates Mills, on the road to Roy: Saint Mary Parish, Kent County: PO 1857-1955: in 1866 Upper Buctouche was a farming and fishing community with about 45 families: in 1871 Upper Buctouche and surrounding district had a population of 500: included Stanley Settlement: in 1866 Stanley Settlement was a farming community with about 24 families: included Black River: in 1866 Black River was a farming settlement with about 36 families, and in 1871 the community and surrounding district had a population of about 350: in 1904 Upper Buctouche had 1 post office and a population of 100.
