Located on E side of the St. John River, 4.25 km WNW of Beechwood, on the road to Muniac: Kent Parish, Carleton County: PO from 1852: in 1866 it was a farming settlement with about 50 resident families: in 1871 Upper Kent had a population of about 250: in 1898 Upper Kent had 1 post office, 1 church and a population of 100: Brown, a Canadian Pacific Railway siding, was situated 1.5 km away.
